How to oil your wooden floor
Once a year or more, depending on how often the floor is used, we recommend using Quick-Step maintenance oil. This oil protects the matt finish of your floor and repairs minor damage.
-
Vacuum or mop your floor thoroughly to make sure you got rid of all the dust. Make sure your vacuum cleaner is equipped with soft wheels and a special parquet brush.
- Give your floor an intensive cleaning with Quick-Step Floor cleaner to remove all layers of Oiled Parquet cleaner from previous cleaning sessions.
- Fill the bottle of your Quick-Step Cleaning kit with water and approximately 3 teaspoons of Quick-Step Floor cleaner. Fill a bucket with clean water for rinsing out your mop.
- Pull the lever to moisten your floor and start to mop. Rinse your mop in the bucket containing clean water and wring it out well. After that, wipe your floor again until it’s entirely dry.
- Stir the Quick-Step Maintenance oil well before using it. Apply in a thin, even layer with a brush or cloth. 1 L should cover about 75 m² of hardwood flooring.
- Let it soak in for a few minutes. After that, spread the oil with a polisher or wipe the surface with a clean, lint-free cloth. Be careful: the cloth will be highly inflammable after applying the oil with it. Put it in a bucket of water afterwards to avoid fire hazard.
- It’s important not to walk on your floor for the next 24 hours.
